Well, Arlene's arrived.

A little bluster, a little wind... and little else.

Ah well, we really didn't need a serious hurricane hitting the area. Yet. Just wait until August and then folks will be properly paranoid when the next one comes into the Gulf. But this is good practice, reminding folks that Mother Nature doesn't follow the rules. *chuckle*

But it's a lousy way to spend the weekend. *grump* Just sitting in your room, watching the trees swaying from the winds, and otherwise being bored out of your skull because all the local channels are doing 'storm updates' constantly. Then again, they need the practice too in whipping up fear and panic when the real storms arrive.

Now you've done it...
You realize, don't you, that you have now set yourself up for a royal butt-kicking by Mom? She's going to dump a spring breeze across Florida, and when you're kicked back enjoying the break, She'll turn on the Hoover.

I do have to agree, though, the media does rather go overboard. It was rather entertaining watching the weather channel and comparing that to what my friend in Nawlins was saying. We were wondering if they were getting live feeds from some other dimension, since it wasn't happening on his plane of existence.

Re: Now you've done it...
Having actually been where the Weather Channel was set up during Tropical Storm Isadore and Hurricane Lili back in 2002, I know that they do try to get the most 'exciting' shots whenever possible. Of course, they were under a gazebo where they were (mostly) protected from the weather, and only the reporter was standing out in the rain and wind.

I've also seen some of the feeds from some stormchasers that posted their video from Arlene, right up at the water's edge. Talk about lunatics... *chuckle* As for Mom Nature, she's already given one good try at me, she's welcomed to try again. *Gryn*
