Plots, Plans and Schemes...

Ever had days when things just seem to start coming together, and you begin looking over the shoulder to see what is going on here? That's about the way it's going with my planned trip. For the first time in 3 years, I'm taking a vacation trip. Not for a convention, either, just to visit friends and act like a tourist for a while.

The idea here is to visit Kiarrh and Dusty in Tampa, then head on a day trip to Orlando and visit Scudder and Jean Kidwell (old friends of mine from the days of GEnie's Beastie Board) and bum around DisneyWorld. During that same time frame, the plan is also to attend a showing of Cirque du Soleil, either at DisneyWorld (La Nouba) or in St. Petersburg (Alegria, travelling there from 19 February to 10 March). The latter is my engagement gift to Dusty and Kiarrh, since I know how much they love Cirque. (I could only wish to be able to take them to Las Vegas for any of the shows there... hell, I could only wish I could take >myself< to Vegas for the shows there.)

Thankfully I'm being able to do this because a) I don't have much in the way of upcoming expenses next month, b) I need to get away from Ft. Walton Beach for a few days, and c) I'm getting the equivilent of an extra paycheck in the middle of the month due to the company I work for giving it's employees [censored] days for making various goals. It's enough to pay for the trip, the hotel, and the tickets to the events... so I'm certainly not going to be hurting over this one. Plus my roommates owe me $1200+ for various reasons (like paying the deposit on the place we're living in)...

So it shouldn't be a bad month next month. Work is starting to settle down into a nice, stable groove, I'm doing well enough there and in other aspects of life, and it's nice to be able to look forward to actually doing something fun for a change.

Oh, speaking of work. We have a button on the wall next to the doors to the IT department. Above it is a sign that reads 'This is not a doorbell.' In actuality, it's supposed to be some kind of alert button for security. Well, one of the fellow techs was talking with some other coworkers about the sign, and asked 'What would happen if I pushed the button?' And actually pushed it. You can guess what happened... the alarm started going off. He started looking for a rock to hide under, then went to security to tell them he accidentally pushed it. Security comes over, and asked him, 'Is this the button you pushed?'..... and pushed the button AGAIN!

It was one of those days Friday...

Re: What?
That was March we were planning, remember?

You think I'm coming to New Orleans while Mardi Gras in in full swing?

Whatever. So you're going to Orlando for Mardi Gras. Have fun. And say hi to Kiarrh and Dusty for me. :)

Usually, I end up thinking about that other Dusty, who is safely ensconced in the wilds of San Jose, CA.

Bon voyage!

(wishing I were back in Boca)
