Fast (Food) Thoughts...

This was one of those days that convince me that the fast food industry needs to be totally and completely shut down until the companies get their act together. I went to McDonalds out of sheer convenience (it's about a 4 minute walk from work and it's the first place you come to.. Sonic and Wendy's are across a 4 lane street) and ordered:

2 Double Cheeseburgers, no onions.

Now, think about it. How hard is it for them even with the lunch rush that they were having to fix two simple, plain, ordinary burgers as requested? A show of hands please?

Ok, you two can leave the room. Everyone else, you're right. It was damned near impossible. Two burgers, no onions. They could not get it right the first time.

Now, I don't know what it is of late. When I was young and working at a fast food (Wendy's) joint, we always made sure to read back the order to the customer as well as make sure the line got it right BEFORE handing it to the customer. But today? It's not read back half the time, they usually have so many orders on those crt screens that they aren't keeping track, and it's usually every third visit that they screw something up. And usually it's a royal screwing.

I go to Wendy's... ask for a sandwich, mayo and mustard. What do I get? Ketchup. Now where the hell did they get 'ketchup' out of 'mayo and mustard'???

At least there's one place you can go and get a sandwich, and get it right every single time... Chic-Fil-A. How hard is it to screw up a lightly-buttered bun, a pickle and a breast of chicken?

* * *

My roommates received notice earlier this week that we have to move at the end of the month. So, they go hunting for a place... and me, being the sucke^H^H^H^H^H moral individual that I am, offered to help offset the deposit. **PROVIDED** that my rent was offset as well. Translation: I'll front the money, but I'm going to get it back, is that clear? *chuckle*

So effectively I won't have to pay rent for about 2 months. Four paychecks that I can just leave in the bank account. It's nice being able to manage that for once.

Then again, it's nice having a decent paying job again. Nine months so far... and things keep improving. They'll pay for me to get training, they'll pay for me to get my degree (which I'm going to start soon)... and they'll pay me to work. Ok, so there's a hitch in there somewhere... *Gryn*

I think after you've HAD to work in the Fast Food gulag a while your tolerance for shoddy service plummits. After all you KNOW how easy it is. As do I. :)

Wendy's here seems particularly bent on my getting tomato into my diet as much as I don't want it. While their concern for my diet and the future health of my prostate are commendable (Tomato is supposed to be good for preventing that type of cancer), I really don't want the flippin' tomato.

Thing is, even if they read it back afterwards, if the person MAKING the sandwich screws it up its not going to matter much.

Fast Food (Lack Of) Quality
Read my latest LJ entry. We ordered onion rings at a BK Saturday night, and we got fries.

BTW, speaking of fronting money, where's the $$$ you owe me and papasan for getting you to Florida so you could start working at that cushy position at Boeing Boeing? Hmmm?
