143 million???

Ok, maybe it's me.  Maybe it's the fact that while I grew up reading Spider-Man when it first came out from Marvel Comics (age alert!), I just never had any interest in seeing the movies.  I may be one of the last remaining dozen people in this country who have never seen Spider-Man 1 or 2 at the movies, on television or rented it on DVD.  Why?  Because it didn't interest me, and it looked about as dull and boring as most superhero movies tended to be (and still are, evidently.)

But $143 million???  Come on, that's outrageous!  There can't be that many comic book geeks willing to part with $10 repeatedly to generate that much money for the movie.  [pause]  Ok, so there's enough to cover say, $70 million of that from seeing the movie two or three times... that's 2 million comic geeks there.

Gah... and there's yet another movie I intend to avoid, just as I've avoided most every other Marvel super-hero movie to date.

POKE!!
Truth- these are FUN movies. Don't look at the money. Its Sam Raimi! They are REAL comic-book films, in that they've NAILED the characters. All of the Spider-Man films have left me wired and bouncing afterwards. :)
