Pirate Radio Ahoy!!

Heh. Last night I was just doing some random radio listening on the shortwave, and around 8:45pm (01:45 UTC) I hit an odd station on 6925khz. They were playing some rock music and had a female announcer, so I listened a while longer and discovered it was a pirate station, Grasscutter and Sunshine Radio. I listened for a little while, more amused than anything else as it was the first time I've ever stumbled across a pirate station on shortwave.

Even more amusing, they sent me an eQSL card when I sent them a note to their email address.

Yo Ho Ho! Hoist the Jolly Roger Radio antenna...

Welcom to the fold
I was just surfing the net about pirate radio when I stumbled across your blog post. Welcome to our little band of misfit shortwave pirates. Check out the happenings on the FRN www.frn.net or may I humbly suggest my podcast at www.piratesweek.info
keep listening to 6925, 6950, 6850 and freqs nearby for more one of a kind entertainment.

Re: Welcom to the fold
Oh, I've known about pirate radio for a while, it's just surprising to finally stumble across a station while it was on the air. Many, many years ago I did pick up Radio Dublin back in the 80's on 6910khz, while while listed in the World Radio Television Handbook was actually a pirate station. But that was one I intentionally went out to try and pick up. *chuckle*
