Iwao Takamoto died.  For most folks, his name would simply be met with a puzzled look.  But for animation fans, he was one of the giants in the industry.  After all, he did give us a creation that has now been around for over 35 years, Scooby-Doo.  He also worked for Disney during the 40's and 50's, but will always be remembered for his canine creations (including Astro and Muttley).

For someone who grew up on the Hanna-Barbera offerings of the 60's and 70's... here's to one of the unsung giants.

You'd think after 35 years that the characters would change clothes and Scooby would get a long needed bath...

Dear, cartoon characters aren't out to make fashion statements. Well, maybe Penelope Pitstop, but that's beside the point.

Besides, you know cartoon characters don't have wardrobes. That's why when you look at their closets, they've got duplicates of the single outfit. Which makes you wonder why Wilma and Betty were always off shopping... they always had on the same outfits every time.

[The image of the closet reminds me of the remake of Fantasy Island, when Mr. Roarke (delightfully played by Malcolm McDowell) opens up the closet... and there are all these white suits... and he pulls out a black one and says to someone "have all these things burned."]

Him and an Joe Barbera must be having drinks up there.
Yeah, I know who Iwao Takamoto is.
I actually read those dumb credits at the end of the shows. :)

I think his last words were "zoinks!".
