Happy Fark

Yeah, yeah, I know.  Happy new year and all that.  On the Gregorian Calendar.  But you know what?  It's not new years if you're on someone else's calendar.

Eastern Orthodox new year is January 14th.
Chinese New Year is February 18th.
Islamic New Year is March 4th.
Jewish New Year is September 12th.
A large number of Southeast Asian traditions celebrate New Years on or around April 12th.

Oh... if you celebrated January 1, you're in the minority.  The largest celebration of people for new year is the Chinese, followed by the Southeast Asian contingent.

So... is it the new year or not?  *chuckle*

The coming year on the Chinese calendar is Year of the Pig. Insert your own joke here. =};-3
