The Superdome is Now Open for Business

Say what you want about football, tonight in New Orleans football is back with a vengence.

I'm giving points to ESPN for their coverage.  Not only the sports aspect, but the personal aspect along with reminding folks that the city is nowhere close to recovered.  Yes, the areas such as the French Quarter are open for business, and yes, they want you to come and visit.  But the reality is there as well, that the homes and neighborhoods are still needing to be rebuilt.  But for tonight, the pain and misery is temporarily forgotten, and a region can take in the sights and sounds of professional football.

The Green Day/U2 opening was definitely uplifting.  Quite surprising that it worked, and it worked well.

Irma Thomas and Allen Toussant doing the National Anthem... not quite the level of Whitney Houston, but it's from the heart.

Whoever wins the game, it doesn't matter... what was important was that there was a game a year after Mother Nature tried to push New Orleans back into the Gulf of Mexico.
