Ernesto and Me, Part 1

Of course it's just the timing... but having a potential Category 2 or 3 hurricane in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico just when I'm about to have my trip makes me... nervous.  Does this mean I might be taking an early trip to New Orleans?  Of course it does...  especially considering that the latest plots show the storm recurving once it's in the central Gulf... towards my direction.  This would be very bad.  Given that landfall is going to be right at the same general time frame as when Katrina made landfall, a LOT of folks along this stretch of the coastline are going to be paranoid as hell.

This is based on the forecast that shows Ernesto surviving the next 24 to 48 hours.  So far, it's being a stubborn coot and shrugging off the shear that's hitting it.

At work, it'd odd.  One of my co-workers reminded me that at the start of the season if we'd get anything, and I said if it was going to happen, it'd likely be Ernesto.  I really have to stop playing Cassandra when it comes to hurricanes, I'm discovering that Mother Nature is listening to my conversations.  *chuckle*  Sorta like the NSA, only with weapons of mass destruction at her disposal.
