Gotta love work sometimes...

Especially when you're trying to do the right things, and you get overriden by the 'business' excuse.  Mind you, the senior management is always talking about when given a choice between doing the right thing and doing the wrong thing simply because it'll bring in business, you're supposed to do the right thing.  Except when millions of dollars in work are involved, then doing the right thing goes into the trash along with most of the company's mottos.

Then on top of that, I found out later in the day that two of our folks (two who were NOT given layoff notices) are handing in their resignations and transferring to other sites in the company, continuing the drain of folks.  Yesterday, three folks in the financial group handed in notices, along with four others that I know about.  And I know of three others leaving soon, so...

I try to ignore the feelings of morose and despair at the site, mostly because I'm in IT, we're used to it.  That, and the fact that we're the last folks to end up getting released.  After all, they still need someone to work the computers and inventory them, and ship them, and... *chuckle*

Along with that, we get informed that we (meaning those of us in the Help Desk/Desktop Deployment group) may end up getting reorganized and reassigned.  Still doing the same jobs, mind you, but just not for the same managers.  Seems they want to take all the small sites and their help staff and bring them into alignment with the main sites... which means that (for our users) they get to deal with the main help desk group, and find out real fast that help isn't going to be as instant as it used to be.  Ah well... not my problem.

Does it sound like I'm looking forward to the trip to Vegas?  Damn straight... I need to get away for a while.
