Life with two screens

I've had one of those work weeks from hell. Everyone wanting everything right then and there, trying to get leased systems off the floor and shipped out, swapping out new systems, then dealing with a rush demand that turned out to be a false alarm. So Friday afternoon I had decided I wanted something for myself.

The question was what to get. My system is already pretty maxed out as far as hardware goes, so... I decided that I needed a second monitor. Now I know, I can hear the questions. But honestly, I wanted something so that I could be doing work in one screen and goofing off in another. So I went and got a little cheap 17" lcd to go with the 19" lcd.

It's actually nice now. I have things set up so that they're pretty level, and I can easily go from one screen to the other. It's a lot easier for me to deal with and since both screens are readable, well...

He's a happy greywolf.

After Friday, it was more like "Two Screams"... believe me, it was looking nasty Friday morning.

Thursday afternoon: Our manager comes back to our work area (he likes hiding back there) with a question of logistics... if we needed to send, say, oh, 20 systems up to $LOCATION, could we do it and what would be the impact? Tell him we could, but all migrations would have to stop.

Friday morning: Find out mangler from $LOCATION decided he wanted this done. Without consulting with his lead, or senior manglement. We start getting systems cranked out. Hour and a half later, just as we're about to get the last four on the bench, we find out that mangler's mangler puts a stop to the work. ARGH!!!

And that was just the first 90 minutes of the day.

{blink} No wonder you needed a detoxing wind-down after that! {rueful chuckle, smile}
