x64 Adventures, part 1

Well, I've decided that I neeeded to do something totally insane, so I took a spare drive and installed Windows XP Professional x64 edition. Yes, I know... why do something insane like that? Well, I felt like it, that's why. I need to keep up with software and such, and this was a good opportunity to experiment.

First off, I needed to find drivers for my network card. Fortunately, I have a card with a Ralink chipset, and you can use the default settings for the driver. It works.

Nvidia has drivers for their boards and video cards, so no problems there. No drivers for the modem, but I need to yank it out anyway. The printer might be a problem, but I'll worry later.

Installation was smooth enough... and everything so far is installing nicely. Firefox is working, need to get a new version of Thunderbird, but that's ok... Tinyfugue for NT installed without problems, and I'm on the mucks right now. So... *chuckle* It's working.

I know I'll likely hit some glitches along the line, but for now it's a working system.
