Idle amusements

I went and downloaded a new program today, called Picasa. Now, some folks might have heard of the program before, but recently they were bought by Google and are now offering the software for free from the Google homepage. So far I've been looking at it, and it not only does what it says it does (catalogs your images) but it does so efficiently... and also lets you edit them, sort them however, and provides a nice series of thumbnails to view all the images with at once. For a free program (about 3 1/2 megs in size) it's really nice. Looks like ACDSee has some real competition as far as a viewer goes.

Amusing commercials - I've seen the two Mountain Dew commercials with Spy vs. Spy. Hee! Such fun! And if you haven't seen the commercials for Nike with Lance Armstrong, go to SeeLanceRide and take a look at the full version. There is a point where he goes past a hospital and you see kids who are undergoing chemo waving to him... a touching reminder that there's more to Lance than merely winning the Tour de France.

What OS do you need for Picasa? Might be interesting to install on a '98 machine.

I have Picasa here, and it rocks. I use it for my web galleries on the Miss Louisiana site.
