Satellite Catching

Every so often I like to go outside and see if I can catch sight of one of the many (and varied) satellites zooming overhead.  I've seen the International Space Station often enough (especially when riding my bike to work, usually going overhead at around the 06:00 time frame) but I've also caught the Hubble Space Telescope and the Tropical Rainforest Monitoring Mission (TRMM).  But tonight I managed to observe a rocket booster, the one for the Russian Cosmos 2219 probe.  Just merrily zipping overhead, and once you managed to lock onto it (with binoculars to start) you can easily track it after that point.

Look at Heavens-Above for listings of what's passing overhead.  You'll have to put in your location, but once that's in place, you'd be surprised at what might be flying by.  *gryn*
